Well, last May 16th California had won some serious ground on equal rights for same-sex couples. Now, a bunch of Christian Republicans have overturned that Supreme Court ruling. Once again, something fundamental to human rights and even to the U.S. Constitution has to be fought in court. You’d think we could all learn and evolve as a race, but it seems we enjoy going backwards.
And just as an added bit of fun, a theatre production in Vancouver has a gay character in it, and an Anglican Church in the United States has decided to tell its members to cross the border and shut it down. MP Libby Davies has publicly expressed her disgust with this group and this particular minister (as he has been known to do this sort of thing) and is calling on the Canada Borders Services Agency to uphold the Criminal Code as these activists are willfully crossing onto Canadian soil to conduct an act of hate. Well, at least it seems someone out there is doing something right.
