Family Guy hits home

Posted: February 17, 2010 in United States

As politically incorrect as it is, Family Guy’s reference to Sarah Palin achieved exactly what it meant to do: piss her off. And, making it even funnier, she took the bait. Hook, line and sinker. I am an avid fan of Family Guy, and love how it pushes the envelope of satire and political correctness. In [...]

What do U.S. Army officials think will happen  if they change the present law requiring homosexuals to be dismissed from the army? Apparently gay people won’t be able to work alongside straight men and women because there would be too many ‘distractions,’ which is what John McCain thinks. I mean, how archaic is this guy? He [...]

The U.S. healthcare bill passed this morning 60-39.  There have been so many concessions to get the Republicans on board I’m not sure it was worth passing. For instance, the public health insurance option was removed. I’m not sure what the Republicans are so afraid of. These Senators have enough money to afford the currently [...]

Guantanamo closing is bad?

Posted: December 22, 2009 in United States

I think it a little odd when people say that Obama is just the same as Bush (so far) and that his closing of Guantanamo Bay means nothing because all detainees there will simply be moved to U.S. soil. Well, let’s see. All detainees that could have been released have been. Also, the remainder are [...]

This just has dirty written all over it. I don’t think this will be pretty for either side. I hope the three can last in jail over there.

Obama’s speech was definitely a good one. I won’t go through all of it at the moment, I just wanted to point out this one passage until I have more time: And yet, given the dizzying pace of globalization, and the cultural leveling of modernity, it should come as no surprise that people fear the loss [...]

Get over it McCain

Posted: November 22, 2009 in United States

I think McCain needs to let the old finance-the-economy-by-war thing go away. Obama organizes a plan to withdraw troops and hand over security in Afghanistan in five years, and McCain thinks this is a bad idea because the insurgents will wait until everyone leaves and then wreak havoc again? Well we can’t stay there forever. [...]

Finally a Republican that isn’t afraid of their own party. Olympia Snowe was the only Republican on the senate finance committee to vote to pass the new health care reform, and will probably be hearing about it for some time to come. But, as Snowe said, “when history calls, history calls.”

Well no kidding.

Obama’s got it together

Posted: March 24, 2009 in United States

Having watched Obama on 60 minutes this past Sunday evening, I was pleasantly surprised by his take on everything from the financial crisis, to Afghanistan, to torture on places such as Guantanamo Bay. As long as viewers didn’t take his laughing over financial problems and criticisms of his work as insensitive (as Steve Kroft pointed [...]
